The quaint, little town of Lahaina has a lot of history within its borders. Located on the west side of Maui about 45 minutes from Kahului Airport, this inviting town was once a whaling village and was also once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom. If you are a history buff or just curious by nature, you may enjoy the self-guided walking tour of this remarkable town. The Lahaina Visitor Center has maps to guide you through Lahaina’s history and streets. You will also notice placards around town depicting different historic sites.
History aside, Lahaina may just be the most charming town on the island. In the (approximately) 1.5 miles of Front Street you will find: The Banyan Tree, Lahaina Harbor, magic shows, world-famous restaurants, art galleries and shopping opportunities galore. All of that with gorgeous weather and stunning views.
